Marathon Runner

Here's my tribute, along with the help of Jason Kates, to Travis Cardwell on successfully finishing the Houston Marathon last week.

26.2 miles ain't no joke, so congratulate him for his status of elitism.

Good job, T-card!

Colossians 1:1-20

My good friends and pastors, Travis Cardwell and Jim Hamilton, have graciously allowed me to have about 6 weeks to preach through Colossians and I'm really exited about it. Both of those guys are truly gifted preachers and it's always a treat to be under their preaching. Anyhow, you can go here to listen to the first sermon I preached if you are interested.

If you don't want to listen to it then pick up your Bible and read through and meditate on richness of God's truth in Colossians. The Gospel is really clear as well as the supremacy of Christ. May you rejoice in what He has done.

Blessings.

Broken Cup

One of Stephenie's favorite artists is Sandra McCracken and on her latest cd, Gravity Love, she has a song called "Broken Cup" which I've really enjoyed listening to. Sandra is the wife of Derek Webb, another of our favorite artists.

Here are the lyrics for those interested.

Looks for autumn, looks for spring
They’re gonna make you look, just like a magazine
Fickle fashion, we are bought and sold
By next season, she leaves you in the cold

And maybe all I want is nothing you can sell
In pills and magazines
Turn the pages, pour the water
I can’t seem to get enough …like a broken cup

Empty pockets, empty dream
All the promises that spill from the glowing screen
Wealth and riches on little plastic cards
All you ever wanted, with a low APR

Maybe all I want, is nothing you can sell
In pills and magazines,
Turn the pages, pour the water
Cause I can’t seem to get enough like a broken cup

And you can ask, you can spin, or you can weave the lies right in
I’ve had enough gonna wash my hands clean, of this 21st century…

Some light reading, stop light ahead
Give me something that will last longer than that
Story like Shakespeare was meant to stick around
And sitcom romance just wears me out.
